Yekaterinburg, Russia — Butterfly Films Pvt. Ltd. represented Nepal as an invited industry delegate at International Festival of Creative Industries gathering in Yekaterinburg, Russia, bringing Nepal’s rapidly evolving film industry into dialogue with key international markets.
The gathering brought together film industry representatives and delegates from Russia, India, South Korea, China, Turkey, and Nepal, with discussions focused on strengthening international cooperation, exploring co-production opportunities, facilitating cross-market collaboration, and creating greater pathways for films and filmmakers to reach audiences beyond their home markets.
Representing Nepal, Mr. Srijan Shrestha, CEO of Butterfly Films, participated in the panel discussions and presented an overview of Nepal’s theatrical landscape, film ecosystem, and the broader spectrum of opportunities within the Nepali film industry.
His discussion highlighted the growing potential of Nepali cinema and the unique strengths that distinguish Nepal as a filmmaking market. He emphasized how Nepal can leverage its distinctive landscapes, cultural identity, global diaspora, and authentic storytelling to create opportunities for international collaboration while retaining the originality of its cinema.
The discussion also explored how international cooperation can extend beyond commercial cinema. Independent filmmakers, emerging talent, producers, and creative professionals can benefit from greater access to international networks, talent exchanges, co-production opportunities, knowledge sharing, and new distribution pathways.
