Kathmandu: “Artists and Senior Citizens Honor & Cultural Evening–2083” was grandly organized in Thali, Kageshwori Manohara Municipality–5, under the special coordination and management of local social worker and young singer Ram Krishna Shrestha. The event, held in the presence of renowned folk singer Kumar Basnet as the Chief Guest, honored individuals who have made notable contributions in the fields of art, culture, health, media, social service, and entrepreneurship.

During the program, senior citizens above the age of 80 who had dedicated their lives to community development, cultural preservation, and social service were honored with certificates of appreciation and traditional shawls. The organizers also recognized various personalities who have been making positive contributions to society through their respective fields. This year, Govardhan Thapa and Mina Ghimire of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality received special senior citizen honors.

Similarly, among those honored in various categories were Ambika Gurung, active in social and cultural sectors; young entrepreneur Nawaraj Thapa; social activist Sabita Nepal; women’s leader Laxmi Khadka; media and social sector contributor Rajendra Luitel; social service advocate Rita Adhikari; healthcare entrepreneur Prahlad Chaudhary; singer Prakash Lepcha; director and model Shivan Pokhrel; health and social activist and proprietor of Chirayu Dent Care, Sagar Joshi; and young entrepreneur Kishan Pokharel, among others.

The event was further highlighted by musical performances from popular artists including Chetan Rai, Sapan Shrestha, DJ Yuwa, Krishna Raj Bhandari, Ram Krishna Shrestha, and Santoshi Karki. Folk, modern, and traditional cultural performances entertained the audience throughout the evening.

The program witnessed significant participation from elected representatives of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality, representatives of social organizations, mothers’ groups, community development committees, and local residents.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Kumar Basnet stated that programs honoring art, culture, and social service help spread positive energy in society and inspire younger generations to respect their cultural heritage and senior citizens.

Organizer Ram Krishna Shrestha said that the primary objective of the event was to recognize and honor individuals who have contributed to society. He also expressed his commitment to continuing such social, cultural, and recognition programs in the future.

Members of the local community expressed their belief that such events help promote positive social values, strengthen cultural identity, encourage social unity, and foster greater respect for senior citizens.

The event management was led by Raj Shrestha, while coordination was handled by Santoshi Karki. During the same ceremony, a new song featuring the voices of singer Ram Krishna Shrestha and singer Santoshi Karki was officially released. The program was hosted by Sagar Joshi.
