Kathmandu: The first literary work “Maun Chha Desh” by writer, singer, and social worker Uma Shrestha, along with her Teej song “Ya Maya Laaunchhau Ki Etai,” was officially unveiled at a special ceremony.
The event, held under the chief patronage of renowned lyricist and writer Chudamani Devkota, marked the formal beginning of Uma Shrestha’s literary and musical journey.
Having dedicated a significant part of her life to public service, Shrestha retired after contributing 38 years to Nepal’s civil service. Even after retirement, she has remained actively involved in literature, music, and various social organizations. She has been associated with more than two dozen social and creative institutions, continuing her contribution to society through cultural and community activities.
The Teej song “Ya Maya Laaunchhau Ki Etai,” written and composed by Uma Shrestha herself, features her own vocals along with the voice of national singer Sumit Khadka. The song was recorded at 7th Studio, while the mixing and mastering were completed by Niraj Shrestha.
The audio and video production of the song was carried out through Uma On The Way. The video was directed and choreographed by Devendra Kunwar, featuring performances by Nirikshya Shrestha and Gobinda Thapa. The video editing and color grading were handled by Bishwaram Khadka.
Speaking at the ceremony, prominent figures from the literary and musical sectors praised Uma Shrestha’s creative journey and highlighted the importance of her efforts to present the emotions, experiences, and voices of society through literature and music.
With the publication of “Maun Chha Desh,” Uma Shrestha has stepped into the literary world, while her musical creations are also expected to establish a new identity for her in the Nepali art and cultural landscape.
