Kathmandu, Baishakh | Artha Nepal Pvt. Ltd. organized the seventh edition of the Sagarmatha Music Award 2082 at Rastriya Naachghar, Jamal, in a glittering ceremony celebrating Nepali music, art, and culture.

Senior sitarist Vijaya Sharma stole the spotlight at the seventh Sagarmatha Music Award 2082, receiving the coveted Sagarmatha Lifetime Achievement Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 17,696 in recognition of her decades-long contribution to Nepali classical music.

The grand ceremony, organized by Artha Nepal Pvt. Ltd. at the Rastriya Naachghar, Jamal, Kathmandu, was held under the theme “Honoring Nepali Art and Excellence — Preserving and Promoting Nepali Culture.”

Nepal’s first Vice President of the Republic, Parmananda Jha, graced the event as chief guest and presented the lifetime honor to Sharma alongside Reliance Finance Deputy CEO Ramhari Acharya, jury coordinator Santosh Shrestha, program chief Purushottam Basnet, and program coordinator Manoj Thapa.

Journalist Dhruva Lamsaal was presented with the Sagarmatha Arts Journalism Silver Honor, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 8,848, while Shiromani Dawadi received the Sagarmatha Radio Journalism Honor for his contribution to broadcast journalism.

Lyricists Khemnath Dahal and Lokraj Adhikari were both recognized with the Sagarmatha Music Honor, while Ramraja Thapa received the Sagarmatha Social Service Honor for his work in the community.

Rajendra Luitel, President of the Event Management Association, was presented the Sagarmatha Honor, as were veteran entertainer Rajendra Thapa Magar. Artists Ashwini Jha and Rajan Budathoki both took home the Sagarmatha Arts Honor.

The evening’s awards were decided by a distinguished jury led by celebrated musician Santosh Shrestha. The panel included litterateur Malika Keshari (Prakash Shrestha), artist Sanam Kathayat, filmmaker Devendra Bajgai, folk singer Kulendra Bik, singer Hemant Kanchha Rasaili, and lyricist Samana Shah — a cross-section of Nepal’s vibrant creative community.

The Sagarmatha Music Award has, over its seven editions, established itself as one of Nepal’s most respected platforms for recognizing excellence in music, arts, journalism, and culture.
