With the announcement of the third edition of the Nepal Cultural International Film Festival, filmmakers were invited to submit films for participation. Festival founder Santosh Subedi has informed that the deadline for film submissions, which include both domestic and foreign films, is 1 July. Interested filmmakers can submit their films to the festival through Freeway. Subedi said that they are preparing for the third edition building on the success of the first and the second one. The organizers have stated that this year’s festival theme is human rights. Both international and national films related to human rights are free of submission fee. During the festival period, three panels on the human rights topic will be organized, in which human rights activists, human rights film makers, human rights organizations, human rights experts, NGOs and Ingos will be invited to take part. In addition, a separate master class with international guest experts will be organized where national and international filmmakers will be invited to attend. The selected films will be screened, accompanied by Q&A sessions with selected filmmakers, directors and producers. Subedi said that 103 films from 35 countries have already been submitted for selection. Still, two more months are left to submit the films, and to exploit the opportunity to take partin the third edition of Nepal Cultural International Film Festival 2021. 14 films including 7 Nepali and 7 foreign will be awarded in the festival. The awards will be distributed in seven categories including Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Human Rights Film, Best Environmental Film, Best Children Film, Best Woman Film and Best Animated Film. The Best Feature Film will be awarded with USD 500, and with a trophy, while the winner of all other categories will be awarded with USD 250.
