Kathmandu: Renowned choreographer and dance director Sandeep Bhujel has been honored with the National Dance Choreography Award at the opening ceremony of the 14th Nepal Africa International Film Festival (NAIFF). The award was presented during a special program held at the hall of the Film Development Board of Nepal.

The honor was conferred by Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, in recognition of Bhujel’s long-standing and significant contribution to the field of Nepali dance and choreography. According to the organizers, Bhujel has played a vital role in promoting and establishing Nepali dance on both national and international platforms through his creative and consistent work.

Active in the dance and film industry for many years, Sandeep Bhujel is widely known for his work in Nepali films, music videos, stage performances, and international cultural events. By blending traditional Nepali dance forms with contemporary styles, he has helped modernize choreography while preserving cultural authenticity, inspiring a new generation of dancers and artists.

Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, Bhujel stated that the recognition represents the result of his continuous hard work, dedication, and artistic journey. He added that the honor has motivated him to take on greater responsibility and to further contribute to the growth and global recognition of Nepali dance and choreography in the future.

On the occasion, Bhujel thanked the entire organizing team and extended special appreciation to Dabbu Chhetri and Sarita Bharti for their constant support, trust, and inspiration throughout his career.

The opening ceremony of NAIFF witnessed the presence of prominent filmmakers, artists, cultural figures, and distinguished guests. The organizers expressed confidence that international festivals and honors focused on art and culture play an important role in encouraging creative talents and inspiring younger generations while promoting Nepali art and culture on the global stage.
