The singing reality show “Gaunchha Geet”, featuring a grand cash prize of NPR 2.5 million, is set to premiere from the month of Jestha. Organized under the slogan “Search for Talent, Respect for Originality: The Musical Campaign of Gaunchha Geet,” the competition has now progressed from the digital audition phase to the physical round. Contestants selected through digital auditions are currently presenting their performances before the panel of judges.
The physical audition round is being held at the “Gaunchha Geet” recording studio in Pepsi-Cola, Kathmandu, where contestants selected from across the country through digital auditions performed on Saturday and Sunday. Around 50 contestants who successfully clear this stage will advance to the Mega Round. Director Hari Sharma expressed confidence that the show, which will be broadcast every Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM on Prime Television, will become a milestone in the Nepali music industry.
The judging panel includes senior classical and modern music vocalist and musicologist Sangeeta Rana Pradhan; renowned singer and composer Thaneshwor Gautam, who is currently pursuing a PhD in music; popular modern and playback singer Sahima Shrestha; and acclaimed folk and dohori singer Amrit Khati. The show will be hosted by stand-up comedian Sita Neupane and Kosh Khadka.
Conceived by Roji Sharma and produced by H.S. Saina Creation, the competition will provide advanced musical training to contestants entering the Mega Round. According to director Sharma, the participants will be divided into groups and mentored by at least four renowned music coaches to further refine their talents.

The organizers have also stated that the competition aims to provide participants with national-level recognition and opportunities for a professional musical career. Preparations are also underway to organize the grand finale outside Nepal.
