Kathmandu. At the 12th edition of the Chhaya Chhabi Teej Music Award, organized by Chhaya Chhabi Creation, senior beauty professional Apsana Newa was honored with the Women’s Honor Award. The felicitation program was held at Levi’s Garden, Sukedhara, where she was presented with the award by distinguished guests including Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC, veteran singer Devika Bandana, Award Chairperson Shantipriya, and Coordinator Krishna Acharya Roshni, among others.
Marking the occasion of Haritalika Teej, the event was dedicated to preserving and promoting folk culture, art, and music. A total of 18 awards, 6 honors, and 1 special prize were presented across different categories. In recognition of her remarkable contribution to the beauty sector, Apsana Newa was conferred with this special women’s honor.
At the same event, singer Rekha Shah received the award for Best Female Singer, while Ramchandra Kafle was honored as Best Male Singer. Other honorees included singer Geeta Bhattarai, actress and singer Sarika Ghimire, singer Anju Shrestha, beautician Sangita Rana Magar, and expatriate singer Sushila Basnet Timilsina.
The ceremony, enriched with musical and dance performances, featured captivating presentations by singers Rekha Shah and Anju Shrestha, while dancers Arya Koirala and Dimple Nagarkoti mesmerized the audience with their performances.
Addressing the ceremony, Chhaya Chhabi Chairperson Shantipriya expressed his belief that the awards not only contribute to the preservation of Nepali art, music, and culture but also play a vital role in women’s empowerment.
Apsana Newa’s Enduring Contribution
Senior beauty professional Apsana Newa is a highly skilled expert with over a decade of experience in Nepal’s beauty and makeup industry. She has continuously encouraged and trained the younger generation through professional workshops, training sessions, and seminars aimed at enhancing expertise in the field. Beyond business, she has worked tirelessly to establish beauty and makeup as a medium of culture, identity, and self-expression in Nepal.
Recently, she was also honored with the “Global Star Award 2025” as the Best Beauty Professional for her long-standing contribution to Nepali beauty art, entrepreneurship, and professional excellence.
Internationally, Newa has represented Nepal on global platforms through various beauty contests and events. Through her own beauty academy, she has trained hundreds of young women in beauty arts, opening pathways toward self-reliance. As part of her social responsibility, she has also been running initiatives to provide makeup and hair design training to women in rural areas, helping them pursue sustainable livelihoods.
Sharing her brief remarks after receiving the honor, Apsana said:
